Located at 10475 Little Patuxent Pkwy, Columbia, MD 21044, USA, with a capacity for a whopping 19,319 people, the Merriweather Post Pavilion is one of the most famous outdoor amphitheatres in the world. Featuring the greatest musical artists in addition to rising stars, there’s no better place to go for a concert.
Merriweather Post Pavilion has given performers and audience members a natural connection to each other and their environment for over 50 years. It is tucked away in the 40 acres of parkland known as Symphony Woods. To be surrounded by grass, trees, and positive energy, musicians ranging from Jimi Hendrix and Willie Nelson to Foo Fighters and Florence + The Machine have gone to this cozy, as-far-from-cookie-cutter-as-you-can-get refuge between Baltimore and Washington, DC. In fact, Jimi made his Star Spangled Banner debut exactly here. On May 25, 1969, Led Zeppelin performed their one and only concert with The Who.
Merriweather was initially constructed as the National Symphony Orchestra’s home and was created by renowned architect Frank Gehry, who is best known for challenging architectural norms. There is no environment like the outdoors in its natural state. This amphitheater is a favorite of musicians and fans because of its excellent sound system, low stage, and giant video screens. The concert goer experience has been prioritized in brand-new, one-of-a-kind upgrades to the grounds, facilities, and concession stands to deliver the finest views, the best food, and the most effective and sustainable production.
The brand-new SkyBoxes and SkyLawn, which provide fans a new, elevated view of the stage, are among these recent upgrades. The SkyLawn comprises two secluded, undeveloped grassy knolls with a 40-foot view of the pavilion. The shed can accommodate even more magnificent stage plays because of the new roof’s 20-foot height increase, improving vistas and acoustics.
Merriweather Post Pavilion has hosted a variety of musicians and events for more than 50 years, providing the best modern entertainment in the region. Head on over to the Upcoming Events page to see what’s on.
